Dr. Rimmasch takes very good care of our animals. He is quick to return phone calls and refill prescriptions. He takes the time to listen, and answer our questions.
Very disappointed with this vet office. My dog has been seen here before for seizures, during which the vet performed an exam and ran tests, so he is not a new patient. That visit itself was frustrating because the vet was rude and dismissive, insisting his seizures were caused by his raw diet, even though it was a healthy, carefully managed diet and all test results came back normal. I left feeling blamed rather than helped.
Most recently, I called because my dog was showing possible Giardia symptoms and I urgently needed to drop off a stool sample before leaving the country in a couple of days. I was initially told this would be allowed, but once they realized he had only been in for one previous visit, they changed their answer and refused. I explained the time-sensitive situation and that I was trying to make sure my dog was okay before I left, but there was no empathy, understanding, or effort to help.
What made this even more frustrating is that another vet office, which had never seen my dog before, had no issue letting me drop off a stool sample for testing. That contrast made it very clear which office was more focused on helping the animal.
While this office is reasonably priced and one of the cheaper options, my experience made it feel like that lower cost may come at the expense of quality service and compassionate care. In situations involving your pet’s health, it is worth investing in quality and professionalism rather than choosing the cheapest option.
Overall, this office came across as rude, inconsistent, and lacking compassion. I did not feel that my dog’s well-being was the priority, and I will not be returning.
I AM NEVER COMING BACK HERE.
I went to this vet initially because I was told they had a “kitten package”, which I had done for my other cat elsewhere, which seemed to be a great budget option for my cat. The upfront cost of this was $400 but included all his vaccines, operation, and some of the associated procedure costs, as well as a 20% discount for a microchip. Great, right?
I got his initial vaccines which went fine, and then was told he was on a waitlist to schedule his neuter. I thought this was kind of weird, but whatever. A few months later, when he was 6 months old (about when I had gotten all my other cats fixed) I had heard NOTHING, so I called them to see where he was on the waitlist. I was told that he would be “at least a few more weeks”. I was confused because this would put him well past the ideal window (4 to 6 months), especially because male cats are at higher risk for spraying and other behavioral problems.
I called back the next week and was told the same thing. I expressed my concerns, which were promptly brushed off. I had to ask over and over again during that single conversation just to get any other answer than “we’ll call you”. I emphasized that I needed a date so that I could plan my life around it (busy college student), and after a lot of pushing, they finally gave me a date that put him at 8 months old! They told me they did it all the time, which to me was absolutely ridiculous. I felt totally gaslit based on my previous pets' experiences. The only reason I didn't walk away right then was because I felt financially held hostage; I was already so deep into this package that I couldn't afford to lose that $400 and start over elsewhere. NO REFUNDS! Little did I know, I would just lose more money and sanity by staying.
The week of his procedure, I received an unnecessary amount of phone calls (very early, and two in the SAME DAY) and emails “reminding” me about his appointment that I, ironically, had to fight them to get. And each time, it seemed to be a different person, leading me to believe there was a major communication problem.
The day of his operation I brought him in expecting to pay about 50-80 dollars for some of the additional costs that I was told about, which we vaguely discussed before. Why was I given a bill of an additional $200!? Turns out I STILL had to pay for ALL of the bloodwork ($88, which is not required for healthy kittens!!!) and the anesthesia ($35) for him, after I had already handed over hundreds of dollars! In short, I had actually only prepaid for the neuter operation itself ($100 value on my bill) and the post op pain shot ($52). NOTHING ELSE.
Please note: by my calculations, I ended up paying about $62 per kitten vaccine after I subtracted what ended up being for the neutering. I had paid $40 at the vet I switched from because it seemed pricey...
They charged me $80 for the "discount" microchip. I have never had to pay more than $40 dollars for this without any discount, and I have been to several vets in my life. I only went through with it because I did not want to make my cat get it outside of anesthesia because it is very painful for conscious pets (sadly, learned from experience).
In total, I spent $600 at this clinic. I called my vet back home (also UTAH, we had to move). The total for a neuter, all medications, AND a microchip today is $367. I paid a $233 premium for a clinic that was disorganized, dismissive, and had zero transparency! Being so financially deep into this clinic was the ONLY reason I did not walk out right then. I should have!
This is the worst experience I have had with a vet and I feel completely screwed over. I would much prefer to pay a little more for transparency if this is what “budget” looks like. If you do go here, get an itemized bill both before AND after everything before you ever hand over payment! Ridiculous pricing, terrible communication, WORST VET IVE BEEN TO!
Very efficient services, came in, dropped the dogs off, and when all was said and done they gave a text confirming the dogs were ready for pickup
I’m extremely disappointed with the service I received today. I brought my cat in for a routine nail trim—something he’s had done before at your facility without issue. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different and very concerning.
The technician who handled his nail trim did not follow proper handling techniques. I specifically mentioned that he, like most cats, should be gently wrapped in a towel during the process to keep him calm and secure. He was screaming, bloody murder. I’ve never heard a cat scream so bad as if he had been ran over or a broken bone. My cat screamed twice, and it took a lot longer than usual, just for them to return him with only his back legs cut, and not his front legs cut if they had properly with another assistant wrapped him up in a towel like I asked for them to do he would not have flipped over and peed himself like the tech said he did.
This level of distress strongly suggests improper handling.
Additionally, the receptionist told me she would bring back whoever else was in the room to better explain. However, no one else ever came forward, which raises serious concerns about what actually took place during the appointment.
This entire situation reflects a clear lack of proper care, communication, and professionalism. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend your services to others. Pet owners should feel confident that their animals are being handled safely and compassionately, and that was not the case here.
