Last week my mom brought her small dog in for what was supposed to be a simple teeth cleaning. When she arrived to pick her dog up she was informed FIVE teeth were removed during the cleaning as they were infected. We understood the need for the teeth removal, what we didn’t understand was why they never called my mom to get the go ahead. When she arrived she was told she had to pay for both the cleaning and teeth extractions or she could not return. This was told to her with attitude from the front desk staff, specifically an older female who has in the past always had attitude. Feeling emotional my mom paid and left the establishment without a formal apology or explanation. My mom has taken her dog to this vet since he was a puppy, with English being her second language she felt discriminated against hence not being able to advocate for herself or her dog. The next morning I returned with her to get answers from either staff or the dr. We walked in and were immediately met with RBF from the front desk and a forced “welcome in”. I asked to speak with a manager and the same older lady that gave my mom attitude said, “well I’m kinda the manager.” I’m not sure what “kinda manager” is, but I requested a supervisor. We were pulled into the back to speak with the dr who performed the procedure. All I have to say is we have nothing against the dr, he was amazing and understanding. But, he even acknowledged it was not written in any contract my mom signed that if during the procedure a tooth had to be removed they would or would not call. He stated the front staff should know to ask the patient if they want a phone call, this was never asked and they never attempted to call my mom. This should be a learning lesson to have better communication with their clients, and this should be in writing. As my mom did not consent to this non life threatening procedure and should not have been forced to pay. Being forced to pay something a person did not consent to is unprofessional especially if it’s followed with attitude.

Denise has been absolutely incredible to us. We’ve been coming to this vet for almost four years, and the care has always been amazing. Our dog has Addison’s disease and requires monthly injections, and Denise is always so gentle and caring. She truly treats our dog like her own. We’re so grateful for all her support, as well as the veterinarians, in helping us manage our dog’s condition.
